How it All Began
The Oktoberfest legend started in Munich back in October 1810 when the local townsfolk organised the party to end all parties to honour Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria's marriage to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Revelers from everywhere subsequently came to toast the noble newlyweds by eating, drinking and making merry at a ginormous racing event! The bash proved such a blast that Munich has now been hosting elaborate Oktoberfests for over 200 years!

Enjoy Live German Music
October 10 marked the official opening of this year’s three Wednesday night-long Oktoberfest. Highlights included a toasting ceremony in which Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Werner Hans Lauk, joined HKJC CEO, Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, in pouring and quaffing 2012’s very first stein of beer! Legendary German band, Notenhobler, then took to the stage and entertained happy partygoers with everybody’s favourite German songs.
On Wednesday October 24 and November 7, top German bands Talbachbuam and Besenkracher will be coming to Beer Garden and intoxicating you with live music of their very own!
