Choreographer Lemon Doo about Dance things...
30/03/2021
Lemon Doo is Hong Kong’s most in-demand choreographer. He and his dancers have backed this city’s biggest entertainers whenever they tour. They know they’re getting the best to ensure that their respective brands are of premium quality.
In this interview, he talked about the importance of interactivity with the audience, whether technology has replaced and hijacked creativity and looking at projects that will challenge us to break away from predictability and regurgitating what’s come before.
There was plenty of food for thought. It was also being realistic enough to know that feeding this appetite to be creative isn’t going to happen overnight. The world is still not at that time and place where opportunity knocks like it once did.
Having said this, now is also the time to try out new things. To see what will or won’t work. To work with different people. To be brave enough to break away and embrace change instead of being comfortably numb.
The answer is to get out there and try to make new things happen- and simply knowing when one is in that creative space no one else has owned before.
More often than not, we tend to follow leaders without keeping a check on those parking meters and making sure that we’re not spinning our wheels and going nowhere. Somewhere is always around the corner. It comes down to self belief. Lemon Doo has plenty of that.
From everything we talked about, he’s waiting to for the right time to fast forward everything going on in that restless spirit of his.
