Happy Wednesday pays homage to the power of art and women with Women ‘N Art this March
March is a busy month in Hong Kong with major international events celebrating two dynamic forces - women (International Women’s Day) and the art world (Art Basel and Art Central). On February 28 & March 6, Happy Wednesday pays homage to both with Women ‘N Art, a series of electrifying events showcasing the best of art and inspiring women from all walks of life.
The Happy Valley Racecourse will come alive with Instagrammable artistic backdrops inspired by popular street art for guests to strike a pose. Pop up decorations will also add an imaginative/arty flair to the venue and include 3D floral arrangements and sculptures dedicated to stars of the racecourse: horses.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion” and in keeping with this Happy Wednesday will showcase the inimitable talents of a group of inspiring women based in Hong Kong, from performers and artists to F&B visionaries.
An art team formed by urban sketchers will wander around the racecourse with their sketch bags and easels, exploring the different aspects of the racecourse through sketching. They use their brushes capture vibrant energy and excitement that has made Happy Wednesday a highlight on the city’s social calendar.
Female musicians will also take the spotlight. Expect an electrifying performance by Ela Alegre (Feb 28), one of Hong Kong’s most versatile and unique vocalists, who will captivate audiences with her powerful combination of Jazz, R&B, Soul, Pop, Latin, Fusion and Dance. Also another top-notch live band On Point sure to win over crowds with their sultry vocals.
Ezra Star, Hong Kong’s queen of mixology, award winning bartender and owner of hip local bar Mostly Harmless, has also designed a special cocktail menu that will be available at the Beer Garden Food Truck, alongside other delicious eats Happy Wednesday is known for.
The girl power doesn’t stop there. Inspired by the worlds of fashion, runway shows and glamorous poses, a group of performers will empower audiences with stylish choreography that has become synonymous with self-expression and individuality.
A series of exclusive private events will also celebrate female visionaries and offer guests a chance to meet with women who are trailblazers in their respective fields.
Celebrate the worlds of women and art at Happy Wednesday February 28 and March 6, 2024.
